Within the Historic District, the Historic Preservation Commission has the responsibility of preserving the rich historical value of the City. Before making changes to any building, structure, site, landscape feature or work of art within the Historic District, you must secure a certificate of appropriateness from the Commission. The Housing Authority provides public housing, rental units and a rent subsidy program. Applicants must be qualifying low and moderate income families and individuals.

Habitat for Humanity - 928-9577

This is a private non-profit organization that offers mortgage loans with no interest charges to qualifying home buyers.

Residents may file complaints about unsafe conditions in residential or commercial buildings with the Building Risk Management Department.
