The Americus Police Department is a state certified law enforcement agency serving the residents and visitors of Americus, Georgia. We are a close knit family of people who are dedicated to serving. The department has an authorized strength of 44 sworn officers and 7 civilian employees. The police department is organized into three division; the Office of the Chief, Administrative Service, and Enforcement Services. |
* To ensure the health, safety and welfare of the community, the police department has an Animal Control Officer. The primary emphasis of the animal control officer is the enforcement of City Ordinances relating to rabies inoculations and leash laws. The animal control officer is also responsible for addressing problems with non-domesticated animals (i.e. snakes, etc.) that are considered a threat or nuisance.
